According to Lecia Langston, a Regional Economist for the Department of Workforce Services, the recession is over an the economic recovery has begun in Washington County.  Langston stated that the economic conditions are best reflected on her graph tracking non-farm jobs.  The graph shows a recent upward trend.

Gary Moulton is the newest member of the ERA Brokers team.  He is originally from Los Angeles, where he graduated from UCLA with a degree in engineering and spent several years in the aerospace industry followed by over 20 years in the retail automobile business.

Gary was a real estate agent in Phoenix for 7 years prior to moving to St George in 2007. He and his wife, Elaine live in Sun River and love the St George area.

Gary chose to join the ERA Brokers team because he knows that we share his belief in having close relationships with clients and always puts their interests first.  He looks forward to serving Real Estate clients in the St George area!

Corby Hancock earned his Real Estate license and came to ERA
Brokers in March of 2004.   By the end of 2005, Corby was a national ERA Rookie of the Year Finalist…..quite an accomplishment!! 

When the market slowed, Corby moved his license to Brokers Referral Network and has spent the past year attending Dixie State college, focusing his studies on business.

Since he was here last he has also added a 3rd son to his family.

This was Liisa’s 13th year participating in the marathon.  Frei, along with her oldest daughter, Cassidee Torres, finished with times that qualified them to run in the Boston Marathon in 2010.  It’s an amazing accomplishment that they are truly proud of.

The Department of Leisure Services estimated that the marathon brought approximately 20,000 visitors to the St. George area.  This is a great boost to the Washington County economy!

Southern Utah’s newspaper, The Spectrum reports: “Marathon visitors are expected to spend approximately $2.5 million locally…bringing additional revenue to hotels, restaurants and a variety of other local businesses.

            PREPARATION FOR WINTER IS KNOCKING AT THE DOOR
The outside daytime temperature is still well into the 90’s, but the calendar says its time to think of changing season preparations.  There are a few items that always deserve attention and, unfortunately, they are not self-correcting.
(1)   Check all doors and windows for fit.  Perhaps there has been breakage occur since the last inspection.  Check for the need of weather stripping to stop leaks.  Check all locks and fastening devices.
(2)  With season changes, time of daylight and darkness changes.  So it would be good to check settings for timers and sensors for the activation of lighting.
(3)  Have your heating system checked out by appropriate and competent service technicians.
(4)  A simple, but extremely important item, is to change or clean the furnace or system filters.
(5)  It may be awhile for this one, but as the yard work winds down, run the gas-powered equipment until the fuel in the tanks is gone; old or bad fuel is not friendly to equipment and will cause havoc in the spring when its time to fire up the equipment again.
(6)  If you have a solid fuel burning stove or fireplace, have a certified chimney sweep inspect and clean the flues and check the dampers. 
(7)  Check chimneys and outside electrical fixtures for bird nests and other materials.
(8)  Check and service detectors by replacing batteries and cleaning dust from detectors and alarms.
(9)  Calk and add insulation to assure maximum air control and regulation. 
(10) Check outside plumbing systems for leaks and prepare measures to prevent freezing.
            A little time spent now to inspect and service indoor and outside services and systems will save a lot of time later and will likely save money if repairs are necessary.  And the weather may be much more comfortable now than when winter is here for a stay.
